The Fruit of the Tree of Life Is the Bread and Wine of the Passover
Now, what is important is how to eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood, the reality of the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. It is impossible to eat Jesus Himself. Then, what does the words of John 6:53 mean? These words are referred to the words
of Matthew 26:17. In this verse, we can find the way to eat the flesh and blood of Jesus.
Matt. 26:17-28 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?" He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.'" So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover. … While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Jesus said that the bread and wine of the Passover is His flesh and blood, that is Jesus Himself. Eating the bread of the Passover and drinking the Passover wine is eating of the tree of life in the Garden of Eden. So far, we have studied that the tree of life is a parable and its reality is Jesus, and the truth through which we can eat Jesus’ flesh and drink His blood is the Passover.
We can understand that the tree of life is allowed to us through the Passover, and that Jesus who allowed us to eat from the tree of life is God.
